Kartik sham aur ganrau ya chhavi kau kahi jaat na kau॥

Devan jabhi jai pukara tabhi dukh prabhu aap nivara,

Kiya updrv tarak bhari devan sab mili tumhi juhari !!

Whenever the gods appealed to you, O Lord, you came to their rescue and saved them from danger. When the demon TAraka started wreaking havoc, the celestials called upon you to challenge the devil.

तुरत षडानन आप पठायौ । लव निमेष महं मारि गिरायौ ॥

आप जलंधर असुर संहारा । सुयश तुम्हार विदित संसारा ॥

Turat shadenan aap pathau lava nimesh maha mari girau ॥

Aap jalandhar asur sahara suyesh tumhaar vidit sansara ॥

Karttikeya, whom you immediately sent, killed the enemy in the twinkling of an eye. The whole world resounds with your genuine fame and knows you as the slayer of the Jalandhara demon.

त्रिपुरासुर सन युद्ध मचाई । तबहिं कृपा कर लीन बचाई ॥

किया तपहिं भागीरथ भारी । पुरब प्रतिज्ञा तासु पुरारी ॥

Tripurasur san yudh machai sabhi kripa kar leen bachai,

Kiya taphi bhagirath bhari purab pratigea tasu purari !!

By fighting against the Asuras, you were gracious to save all of Tripura, and O Purari, when Bhagiratha performed severe austerities, you gave him his fruits.

दानिन महं तुम सम कोउ नाहीं । सेवक स्तुति करत सदाहीं ॥

वेद माहि महिमा तुम गाई । अकथ अनादि भेद नहीं पाई ॥

Danin mahe tum sam kou nahi sevak stuti karat sadahi॥

Ved mahi mahima tab gaai akath anadi bhed nahi paai॥

Your devotees, who are never tired of singing your glories, declare that none of the benevolent equals you in generosity. Although the Vedas glorify Your name, You are indescribable and eternal, so that no one can fathom Your mystery.

प्रकटे उदधि मंथन में ज्वाला । जरत सुरासुर भए विहाला ॥

कीन्ह दया तहं करी सहाई । नीलकंठ तब नाम कहाई ॥

Prakat udadhi manthan mein jvala jare surasur bhae vihala॥

Kinhe daya tahe kari sahai nilakanth tab naam kahai ॥

Huge flames of poisonous fire leaped from the sea as it churned and the terrified gods and demons engulfed in the flames were burnt alive. Then, showing Your merciful compassion, You came to their rescue (by throwing poison) and then assumed the name, Nilakantha.

पूजन रामचंद्र जब कीन्हां । जीत के लंक विभीषण दीन्हा ॥

सहस कमल में हो रहे धारी । कीन्ह परीक्षा तबहिं त्रिपुरारी ॥

Pujan ramchandra jab kinha jeet ke lank vibhishan dinha ॥

Sahas kamal men ho rahe dhari kinhe pariksha tabhi purari ॥

Pleased with Rama's deep devotion, you enabled him to conquer Lanka and crown its king Vibhishana. When Vishnu, wishing to propitiate you, offered you a thousand lotuses, you put him to a severe test, O Purari.

एक कमल प्रभु राखेउ जोई । कमल नयन पूजन चहं सोई ॥

कठिन भक्ति देखी प्रभु शंकर । भये प्रसन्न दिए इच्छित वर ॥

Ek kamal prabhu rakheu joyi kamal neyan pujan chahe soi॥

Kathin bhakti dekhi prabhu shankar bhae prasan die ichchita var ॥

O Lord, you hid a given lotus, but, disheartened, Vishnu offered his own lotus eye in place of the missing flower. You were extremely pleased to see his unfailing devotion and gave him the boon he most desired.

जय जय जय अनंत अविनाशी । करत कृपा सबके घट वासी ॥

दुष्ट सकल नित मोहि सतावैं । भ्रमत रहौं मोहे चैन न आवैं ॥

Jai jai jai anant avinashi karat kripa saba ke ghat vasi  ॥

Dusht sakal nit mohi satave bhramat rahe mohi chain ni aave ॥

Glory, majesty, all glory to you, O infinite and eternal Lord! Merciful to every creature, you dwell in the hearts of all (show me also your customary kindness) The company of the wicked torments me daily, deceiving me so that I have no peace in my heart.

त्राहि त्राहि मैं नाथ पुकारो । यह अवसर मोहि आन उबारो ॥

ले त्रिशूल शत्रुन को मारो । संकट से मोहिं आन उबारो ॥

Trahi trahi main nath pukaro yeh avasar mohi aan ubaro,

Le trishul shatrun ko maro sankat se mohi aan ubaro !!

Hear, my Lord, I cry to you for help, save me! Hurry up and be my protector. Bring your trident, slay my enemies and deliver me from my burning misery.

मात पिता भ्राता सब कोई । संकट में पूछत नहिं कोई ॥

स्वामी एक है आस तुम्हारी । आय हरहु मम संकट भारी ॥

Mata pita bhrata sab koi sankat mein puchat nahi koi ॥

Swami ek hai aas tumhari aaye harhu abb sankat bhari॥

My parents, brothers, and other relatives turned blind to me my plight. O Lord you are my only hope now, come at once and release me from this crisis.

धन निर्धन को देत सदा ही । जो कोई जांचे सो फल पाहीं ॥

अस्तुति केहि विधि करों तुम्हारी । क्षमहु नाथ अब चूक हमारी ॥

Dhan nirdhan ko det sadahi jo koi janche so phal pahi ॥

Astuti kehi vidhi karo tumhari shamahu nath abb chuk hamari ॥

You always give wealth to the innocent and let him have whatever he wants from you. I wonder how one can sing your praises and glorify you. Please, O Lord, forgive me of my sins and transgressions.

शंकर हो संकट के नाशन । मंगल कारण विघ्न विनाशन ॥

योगी यति मुनि ध्यान लगावैं । शारद नारद शीश नवावैं ॥

Shankar ho sankat ke nashan mangal karan vigihn vinashan,

Yogi yati muni Dhyan Lagave Sharad Narad shish Nivave,

O Shankara, you are the remover of all troubles, the destroyer of all obstacles, and the source and cause of all good. All yogis, ascetics, and monks meditate on you, and even Saraswati and Narada bow down to you. 

नमो नमो जय नमः शिवाय । सुर ब्रह्मादिक पार न पाय ॥

Namo Namo jai Namo Shivaya sur brahmadik paar na paye,

Jo yeh path kre mann lai ta par hot hain shambhu sahai !!

Obeisance, respect, all respect and glory to you, O Shiva, you beyond the comprehension of Brahma, the gods, and others. O, Shambhu, you favor him who recites this with full concentration.

रनियां जो कोई हो अधिकारी । पाठ करे सो पावन हारी ॥

पुत्र होन की इच्छा जोई । निश्चय शिव प्रसाद तेहि होई ॥

Raniyan jo koi ho adhikari path kare so pavan hari,

Putra heen ki ichcha koi nishchae shiv parsad tehi hoi,
